Leslie Schwindt-Bayer is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She joined the department in the Fall of 2007 after four years as an assistant professor of political science at the University of Mississippi. She holds Ph.D. (2003) and M.A. (1999) degrees from the University of Arizona and a B.A. (1996) degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Her subfield is comparative politics with a regional concentration in Latin America.
Research Statement
Her research interests focus on political institutions, legislative representation, and gender and politics. Her work has been published in the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Electoral Studies, and Legislative Studies Quarterly.
Courses Taught
Professor Schwindt-Bayer has taught several courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. These include introductory courses on Comparative Politics and Latin American Politics, advanced undergraduate courses such as Transitions to Democracy, Women and Politics, and South American Politics, and graduate courses on Comparative Political Institutions and the survey course in Comparative Politics.
