Mary Stegmaier Awarded a Professional Achievement Award

Mary Stegmaier awarded the 2024 Midwest Women’s Caucus for Political Science Outstanding Professional Achievement Award. 

Mary Stegmaier, Vice Provost for International Programs, Director of the International Center, and Associate Professor in the Truman School was recognized for her contribution and leadership in her field by the Midwest Women’s Caucus for Political Science. 

Annual Meeting of the Consortium of University Public Service Organizations

Syrus Duffy, MPA candidate and IPP Research Specialist II, Sara Gable, IPP Director, Kelly Schultz, Director of the Legislative Leadership Academy and Truman School Undergraduate Internships, and Hannah Shupert, MPA candidate and IPP Graduate Research Assistant attended the annual meeting of the Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (CUPSO), April 3 – 5, 2024, at UMass Amherst.

Truman School and City of Columbia Create Student Opportunity

The Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri, in collaboration with the City of Columbia, announces a new assistantship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in local government starting in fall of 2024.  Through this opportunity MPA students will use their skills in public policy and public administration to help the Mayor and City Council improve policy and governance.

Teaming-up to Constrain Polarization

The Truman School is one of fourteen schools participating with the Volker Alliance to offer courses centered on civil discussions meant to constrain the impacts of political polarization.  “Political polarization is growing at an alarming rate, democratic systems are being tested and weakened, and the population’s faith in public institutions is at an all-time low,” said Sara Mogulescu, president of the Volcker Alliance.

IPP Releases Annual Report (2023)

On January 30, 2024, IPP Director Sara Gable released the IPP Annual Report for 2023.  We extend our sincere appreciation to our funders, collaborators, student research assistants, UM, MU, and College of Arts and Science administrative and research staff, MU Extension, and the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs.
