I study legislative institutions and state politics. My primary focus is on institutional constraints. More specifically, I examine how term limits influence legislative function, careers, and overall institutional structure. My dissertation is focused on this latter part, examine how term limits alter various aspects of legislative institutions---leadership, committees, and inter-branch relations.
