Research:

My primary academic interest is in foreign aid. I am interested in the influence of foreign aid on democratization and civil conflicts among recipient states. Specifically, I focus on sub-types of foreign aid and their different effects on civil conflict and democratization. I am interested in analyzing how donors distribute foreign aid, whether foreign assistance is effective to solve a problem in recipient states, whether democracy assistance promotes democratization in authoritarian regimes, and whether humanitarian assistance reduces or increases one-sided violence against civilians. My current research project explores how donors create democracy aid packages for authoritarian states.
