IPP Presents Research on Paid Leave at Missouri Foundation for Health Convening

On September 21, 2022, Missouri Foundation for Health, in partnership with Jobs with Justice, hosted a gathering of national and state advocates of paid family leave and paid sick leave to discuss IPP’s research about the availability of such programs in Missouri and opportunities to advance those policies. 

Political polarization doesn’t dominate people’s perceptions of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has been perceived in the national media as a largely partisan issue in the United States, with Democrats being portrayed as more concerned about the severity of the pandemic than Republicans. However, a new study by a University of Missouri researcher and colleagues suggests that while these political tendencies are still local, partisan beliefs do not seem to overshadow how people perceive the severity of the pandemic in their own communities.

IPP's Associate Director of Operations, Emily Johnson, appeared as a panelist at the Governor's Conference on Economic Development to speak about occupational licensing reform in Missouri. IPP has contributed new research to update 2016 data on occupational licensing and women in Missouri. Additionally, the new report, Occupational Licensing and Women in Missouri Report Update, examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Missouri's women. Both reports were commissioned by United WE, formerly the Women's Foundation.

Truman School’s Mizzou Model UN Team Excels in National Competition

Seventeen students from Truman School’s Mizzou Model UN recently traveled to Chicago to  participate in the American Model United Nations conference and won four awards, more than any other school in the competition.

Keiser Attends Unveiling of Truman Statue in Washington, D.C.

On September 29, Truman School Professor and Director Dr. Lael Keiser had the pleasure of attending the unveiling of the Harry S. Truman statue in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Placement of the statue was the culmination of a fundraising effort by the Truman Library Institute in Independence, Missouri. During the ceremony, Truman’s oldest grandson Clifton Truman Daniel, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) and U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), among others, highlighted several of President Truman’s many accomplishments.
